Galytix Deploys Risk-Specialised AI for the GEMs Consortium, Unlocking Emerging-Market Credit Intelligence

UK AI firm Galytix, in collaboration with PwC Luxembourg has deployed CreditX, its risk-specialised AI platform, for the Global Emerging Markets Risk Database (GEMs) Consortium. Using four decades of GEMs default and recovery data, CreditX embeds decision-grade credit intelligence into the credit-risk workflows of the Consortium’s 28 multilateral development banks (MDBs) and development finance institutions (DFIs).

London, Wednesday, 21 October 2026: UK-based AI firm Galytix, in collaboration with PwC Luxembourg, has deployed CreditX, its risk-specialised AI platform, for the Global Emerging Markets Risk Database (GEMs) Consortium. Embedded directly into credit risk professionals’ workflows, CreditX’s domain-specialised AI agents turn four decades of emerging-market credit risk data into decision-grade intelligence.

GEMs was co-founded in 2009 by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and pools credit risk data on MDB and DFI lending in emerging markets and developing economies.

The deployment serves the GEMs Consortium's 28 MDBs and DFIs. Implemented in line with GEMs’ data, risk, legal and compliance standards, CreditX draws on the Consortium’s unique data and expertise to give users across the Consortium verified risk intelligence. It combines Galytix’s proprietary machine learning models, trained specifically on credit risk, with leading large language models, and is continuously updated as member institutions’ needs evolve.

CreditX draws on GEMs' historical default and recovery data to provide the country- and sector-level statistics GEMs shares with its members and the public, surfacing anomalies in counterparty behaviour and financial data at a speed and with a consistency that periodic manual review cannot match.

GEMs member credit teams can apply this intelligence in real time across credit analysis, portfolio monitoring and early warning signals, helping them move faster, sharpen decisions and evidence their analysis to regulators. The deployment comes as development banks seek to mobilise significantly more private capital into emerging markets, a goal that depends on lenders and investors having usable evidence of how emerging market credit performs.

Raj Abrol, co-founder and CEO of Galytix said:

“The prevailing narrative that emerging markets are simply too risky for institutional investors has never been supported by the data. GEMs holds over four decades of that data, now on a modern, scaled-up platform. By putting specialised, trusted AI in the hands of risk professionals, we’re freeing them from data processing to focus on judgement and anticipate risk before it materialises, helping more capital reach the markets that need it most.”

Gregor Cigüt, Secretary General of the Global Emerging Markets Risk Database (GEMs) Consortium said:

“With support from Galytix, PwC, and the CreditX tool, we’ve taken our data collection, testing, analysis, maintenance and security to an exciting new level. We’ve replaced our previous platform with a modern, AI-supported Webtool, enhancing our process to make it easier and more efficient for members, and ultimately generating a unique and rich set of statistics recognised as a global public good.”
