Chief Data Engineer

Back story

I grew up in a small town in the north-west of the Czech Republic. I was always fascinated by astronomy and cosmology growing up. During my studies at FSNPE CTU in Prague, I grew to appreciate mathematics as the fundamental instrument to model the world around us and its structure. I decided to focus on pursuing a study of mathematics for the sake of mathematics, probability theory, and statistics in particular. After graduation in 2009, I joined the KPMG CEE Actuarial team, where I learned a lot about the practical application of statistical and machine learning models in financial intuitions; the importance of high-quality data engineering in delivering impactful solutions to clients; about dangers of over-reliance on subject matter experts instead of data-driven decision making quantitative modelling.

GX story

I co-founded Galytix in 2015. I lead the data engineering function of GX globally. I consider myself an expert in areas of data analysis, data engineering, data pipelines, development and deployment of machine learning solutions. My teams are focused on delivering business value through combining modern deep technology with domain expertise and their application to practical use cases in the Insurance and Banking industries.

On the lookout for

In the rapidly evolving world of finance, I envision a future where technological advances allow democratizing knowledge within financial institutions through AI. My focus is on generating a competitive advantage through the innovative use of data. By adopting open-source technologies, we aim to serve both our internal teams and GX clients effectively.

At Galytix, we are on the lookout for a new species of polymath data engineers and data scientists. These professionals will combine theoretical knowledge of modeling techniques with practical knowledge of state-of-the-art tooling and frameworks, along with good software development practices, in a single professional. This approach will enable us to thrive in a dynamic environment where data-driven insights propel us forward in the financial landscape.
